Access database: “Not enough disk space, compaction impossible” when trying to compact your database

Question:

We have installed PROMODAG Reports on the D:\ drive (100 GB, 50 GB free), however we obtain the following error message when trying to compact your Access database: “Not enough disk space, compaction impossible”. The database is now about 1GB.

The C:\ drive (4GB) has only 300 MB left.

Is it possible to use the G:\ drive (100 GB, 80 GB free) to compact the Access database ?

Answer:

PROMODAG Reports uses the default TEMP environment variable when compacting an Access database. It is likely that it is set to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP on your computer, hence the error message.

This Windows environment settings can be modified as explained in the following article from the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310519/en-us.
